Grain-Free Update

We had four doctor appointments the other day. These are the results so far of going grain-free:
*One child’s thyroid levels had improved SO much that her medication was reduced 50%. How? Even the specialist said it was going grain-free.
*One child’s Hypercalcemia NORMALIZED for the first time in TWO YEARS.
*Two kids grew perfectly proportionally in the last month – both grew one inch and five pounds. I never knew there was a height/weight of growth proportion but the endocrinologist knows! The other child maintained perfect status quo.
Bless his heart, but Ethan has NEVER had a normal growth pattern. I am so excited! Sydney hasn’t had a normal growth pattern in a couple of years due to her health issues. And Katyana’s thyroid functioning is incredible! If I had health insurance and/or saw a doctor, I would love to know my “scores.” But I am SO encouraged by the children’s progress. They are greatly encouraged. I think Sydney is the greatest fan of no grains. She had one flare after a HOT day in the sun all day but the flare only last for three days… a new record. A previous flare would have had her in bed for at least a week and not feeling well for about a month. It’s very exciting that this is a dietary result and not a medication issue.
I bought the kids a fabulous book called “Eat Like a Dinosaur” by The Paleo Parents. The kids love the book, the story, the illustrations, and the recipes! I gave them a $40 budget and they look for recipes, went shopping, and here is one of the meals bought and made by Sydney.
All four of the Reedettes LOVED this. None of us had ever eaten Kale before. The health benefits of Kale are amazing. And we loved it. And this pie was super delicious (grain and dairy free). Even my two kids that dislike olives enjoyed the olives.
Great job, Sydney!
