Sydney’s BEST DAY EVER (a very short synopsis in pics)

Posted on: November 21, 2011

A much longer version is to follow (half-way finished and saved in “drafts” with about 10 other much longer “drafts”… ahem). I’ve always been a long-winded writer. My English teacher from England knew that about me (hopefully with fondness!).

Sydney and I attended the “2 Friends Tour” with Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. I had seen the initial tour in high school and Sydney had saved her birthday money to attend an Amy Grant concert (one of her favorite singers). We were so blessed that they chose the Tennessee Theatre here in Knoxville to perform.

I’m posting a few pictures that will tell some of the highlights from Sydney’s point of view. A longer short version is posted on my Facebook Album here. Truly, I will post the “rest” of the story at a later date. But first, this is what Sydney said at dinner after she had met Amy Grant and talked with her at the sound check PRIOR to the concert.

I asked Sydney if Amy Grant was as wonderful as she thought she was. She replied, “No.” And (after my face expression showed concern) she then added, “She was way more happy and joyful and loving and caring than I ever thought she would be. It felt like I was the only one she cared about but that she could also care about everyone else, too.”

Pretty remarkable.

ANOTHER Amy Grant and Sydney Picture! I’ll explain in longer post but Amy Grant was VERY gracious with this picky mother-photographer.
